Matla Jara Consulting cc t/a MJ Consulting Engineers was founded in 2005 with the express purpose of providing specialised services in the Structural and Civil Engineering fields by Johan van den Berg. Since then the firm has grown to two 2 Engineers (Johan van den Berg and Werner van den Berg). We pride ourselves in the positive and vibrant attitude expressed by all our staff in and out of our office environment.

The Company specialises in providing Structural and Civil engineering services to mainly private sector clients, and as such economy of design is at the forefront of our work ethic. Large numbers of projects ranging in commercial, retail, industrial and special structures have been successfully completed. Together the company engineers have more than 40 years' experience in the structural and civil Engineering fields. (Johan – 36 years; Werner – 6 years)

Our objectives are to combine all applicable problem solving skills in providing solutions that are functionally sound, economically feasible and practical and to strive to establish as the preferred service provider for the provision of Consulting Services on all area of the industry in one place.

The Members and Associates of the company represent years of experience in the design of structures for industrial, retail and commercial facilities and have been involved in many projects. We offer a hands-on approach and a strong commitment to creating projects that are economical, constructible and functionally sound. We believe in combining the latest technology in analysis and CAD systems with a practical approach based on our experience and knowledge of the construction industry.

We believe that we can bring real Engineering value to the Table on all projects on which we are involved.

The company provides a broad spectrum of professional engineering services which include the following:

• Structural steel design
• Bridge design
• Roads and stormwater, Water and sewer reticulation design (Civils)

• Structural integrity investigations and Assessments (As-Built)

Expertise in concrete design includes multi story buildings using conventional reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, precast concrete or composite construction.

Structural steel design expertise includes long span buildings, Distribution Centers and heavy industrial steel structures.

The design experience in bridges includes concrete bridges as well as structural steel bridges for vehicle, rail and pedestrian use.

Civil design experience includes pavement design (Road), water, sewer and storm water reticulation. Infrastructure design of this nature is not only restricted to commercial building projects, but also includes township developments.
